Prof. Lloyd Hollenberg:
The Acoustics of the Didjeridu

Lloyd Hollenberg teaches physics at the University of Melbourne. Part of his research time is devoted to the complex acoustics of the didjeridu. Lloyd advertises his work with the awareness that beneath the surface of the seemingly simple physics of the didgeridoo is a sound that is far more complex than in most instruments of the West.

He describes the total acoustical system from the lungs to the instrument and the physical principles of sound origins in different tubular forms.
